Boston Branch NAACP asks the state to investigate segregation in the Boston public schools.

A subsequent report by the Massachusetts commission Against Discrimination concludes that race was not a determining factor in assigning students or in the quality of schools. Instead, the report declares, “It appears that the bulk of the Negro enrollment is in the section of the city where the Negro population is most heavily centered.”
